Basketball Programs

The Basketball program will provide as much opportunity as possible for a player to develop basketball skills to compete in a structured team environment. All players once registered will be accepted into the St William Basketball Program. Eligibility to participate in our basketball program is open to any child in grades 2nd thru 8th from the St William Parish or an adjacent parish which does not have a basketball program who wants to develop or hone their basketball skills. It is divided into three parts: the CYO component, the Group Skills Clinic, and the intramural program for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders.

The St William CYO Varsity Teams will be structured to allow players and coaches to be competitive. The St William CYO Junior Varsity Teams will be structured to allow players and coaches to gain an appreciation for the game of basketball. In order to do this, team size will be managed.

The Group Skills Clinic is open to all players in the 3 components of the basketball program. This is good for families who can not commit to the entire basketball season or when a player needs a little more development before going into a competitive team structure. The Clinic is also used by the CYO Teams as additional training time. Skills Clinics will be held Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays November through January (see the calendar as some exceptions to this schedule will occur).

The third component is the intramural program. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade intramural program will consist of Group Skills Clinics, practice and scrimmages.

The St William CYO Basketball Program has openings for 5th thru 8th grade girls & boys.  The CYO Basketball season starts Nov 1st and runs through February, with playoffs starting Feb 22.

Along with the CYO Program, the St. William Dads’ Club runs an Intramural Basketball Program for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders, If interested in playing, you may still register on-line.
